Township Commercial

All across this country roads, bridges, and freeways, tie us together to form our great nation. Along all these roads, we have beautiful green vegetation and trees that come in all shapes, forms and varieties. The plains of the central United States have beautiful native Prairie, grasses and wildflowers, out west, the Aspen, Juniper, and Ponderosa come right up to the road, and east, the large live oaks sprawl their branches over top freeways. While all this is beautiful, it comes at the cost of maintenance and hazards. That beautiful Prairie grass traps snow and causes drifting over roads, invasive plants grow up at shoulders and block visibility from turning traffic and oncoming cars, and trees dangling over streets and powerlines can cause outages in storms, or keep the sun off the road, preventing snow from melting in the icy Winter season. When it comes time to maintain your streets, minimal maintenance roads, freeways, and township back roads around Sioux Falls South Dakota and Willmar Minnesota, we are your one stop shop for anything here in town.

We at Big Bark Tree Taming believe in offering a complete one stop shop for all of your township roads and highway tree and vegetation needs. Our boom truck and chippers are the perfect tool for maintaining your trees alongside of the roads, whether they are beautiful overhang, tunnels of green or trimmed back walls, preventing snow from flying across the roads, our bucket trucks can reach high and far out into the roadways, and we run large chippers to either haul the chips away or spread in the ditch for quality mulch and organic material for grasses to grow in. When you’re beautiful grass starts having invasive growth we are trained and certified in roadway spraying and herbicide application. Using a variety of products we can control anything from broad leaf plants, thistles, all the way up to larger woody material like Eastern Buckthorne and Chinese Elms. If the invasions have gone too far, we can come in with the large forestry mulcher. It is amazing what some time and diesel fuel can do to clean up your Township roads or ditches around Sioux Falls and Willmar, grinding and mulching the material into a fine base for future plant and grass growth.

The best way to maintain your township roads, highways, or County roads is to develop an overall plan so that you can keep up on the maintenance in a timely fashion. Trees grow slower than invasive plants in, so often a 5 to 7 year rotation for trimming is the optimal amount to keep the trees healthy, growing, and in check. Invasive plants can sprout and grow much faster than that, so after mulching a particularly bad spot it is important to keep up in the spring, usually in two year intervals until the invasive problem has subsided and native Prairie grasses and wildflowers have taken their place. For invasives that get large, we provide stump treatments for the root system. We apply a product after the tree has been cut that eradicates the system, preventing further growth and sprouting, which can cause an even bigger headache than the tree in the first place.

We will work with you on a one on one basis to develop a game plan for your current situation as well as developing a future action plan for what we see may be needed in the future. Often it takes boots on the ground and time spent driving looking at all the roads to develop the first plan, but after that stage, we can often have a more linear workflow to follow maintaining proper clearances and roadside appearance in your ditches in Sioux Falls and Willmar

We also offer spot spring on invasive plants. Spots spraying differs by only applying foliar spray to the invasive plant itself instead of an overarching broadcast spray which could potentially harm desirable plants and native growth. That spots spray takes a little bit more time, but is highly effective because you use a higher concentration of herbicide, which does a better job knocking down the invasive plant without harming growth around it. We have the tools to work in all types of ditches, if your ditch has cattails growing in it, rocky outcroppings, or even steep cliff sides, we can maintain all of them to the highest degree.

Big Bark Tree Taming is a small locally owned company both in Willmar Minnesota and Sioux Falls South Dakota that can handle even your largest projects. When we start to work together, you get the owner’s cell phone number so that you always have a contact at the company to find how your project is going, ask for more information, or discuss issues without having to jump through a pile of hoops like you might at a large right of way firm. As well as being easy to reach we pride ourselves on being some of the most friendly and personable people to work in the right of way space. We think we are pretty funny. A good joke to tell always warms up the soul when working in those nasty cold winters. We are also primarily made up of coffee instead of water in our blood, allowing us to work deep into the winter when the roads are not as busy giving better safety to us and our workers as well as a less labor some final product.

We work with all sizes of government entities around Willmar Minnesota and Sioux Falls South Dakota, from large highway departments down to small townships of 60 or less people. There are always options to make your project work out well and turn out exactly how you expected. When working on large scale government projects we enjoy the camaraderie of the highway workers, keeping up on our roads and making our travels safe, and we love working with small town boards getting to know the township leaders on a personal basis. We are sure that you will be happy and thrilled with the product we provide to whatever sized project you have and look forward to working with you and your agency or government body in the future!
